4 Tips To Moving Your Band's Equipment To A New Storage Location

Band equipment can take up a large amount of space, and you understandably may not have a suitable amount of space in your home for all of your gear. This equipment is typically expensive, and it must be stored in the ideal location to avoid damage. Now that you have decided to relocate your band’s equipment to a different location, you need to follow a few steps to ensure that the process is completed properly.

Select the Right Storage Unit

Many people who need to find a storage space for their band’s equipment will rent a storage unit. There are numerous storage facilities in most areas, but do not assume that they are all the same. Some are similar to a garage. They are not climate-controlled, and the facility may not offer any security on-site. Other facilities have climate-controlled interiors as well as ample security to deter criminal activity. Remember to select the right size of the storage unit as well. Renting a space that is too large for your needs is a waste of money in most instances.

Plan Ahead for Transportation

After you have rented a suitable storage space for the band equipment, you can begin planning for the relocation of your equipment. All of your gear may fit in the back of a band member’s SUV or van. If so, there is no need to relocate the equipment using a rented vehicle. However, if your group does not have enough cargo space in personal vehicles, a discount cargo van rental or a trailer may be a smart idea.

Recruit Help as Needed

In many instances, a band may have enough brawn through its members to relocate the band equipment with minimal hassle. On the other hand, there may be situations when the entire band is not available to pitch in and help. Perhaps someone is injured, or you are simply looking for a faster and more convenient way to get your gear to a storage space. Hiring movers to provide labor assistance for a few hours may be advisable. When hiring movers to assist with a small project like this, look for a company that charges an hourly rate with no minimum number of hours.

Each of these steps is fairly easy to complete. In fact, you may be able to walk through each step within a few hours or less in some cases. Get started today so that you can properly address your equipment’s storage needs.
