Rock Band Network Announces Affiliate Program
June 3, 2010

Musical behemoth Rock Band Network announced their partnership yesterday with a number of do-it-yourself service providers to help bridge the gap between music and gaming.

Through this program, bands can receive special opportunities from affiliates, including waived and discounted account fees, complimentary distribution and promotion of Rock Band Network songs, banner ads, widgets, cross-promotional linking and more.

When it was first announced that Rock Band would give independent and major recording artist access to sell their songs to the millions of active Rock Band gamers, I immediately considered how these artists would stand out from the crowd of submissions.

Paul DeGooyer, Senior Vice President of Electronic Games and Music at MTV said, “This initiative will promote the Rock Band Network to bands that frequent our affiliates’ sites and give the creators inside the Rock Band Network the opportunity to work with an amazing group of well-respected music distribution, promotion and technology sites, including Tunecore, Nimbit, Reverb Nation, Indaba Music and Topspin.”

I extended an opportunity here back in December that allowed two bands to test drive the Rock Band Network authoring process free of charge.  I’m happy to report that both bands in this experiment [Color Theory & Atris] have successfully submitted their songs for play and purchase in the Rock Band Store for Xbox 360.

Listen to their submissions below and look out for their songs on Rock Band for Xbox 360:
