Join MTT's Online Networking Party & Introduce Yourself To Our Community

Today, many Americans are celebrating Independence Day. MTT and Hypebot like to hold occasional online networking parties during the holidays so we’re holding one this week on Music Think Tank.

In the comments section here, tell us a little about yourself, what you’re working on, and your thoughts on the music industry. Include links that you think might be of interest to others and I suggest adding your name and email or some way that other readers that are interested in collaborating can find you.

Shameless plugs are allowed.

Hey folks!

I'm a Singer/Songwriter based in Ithaca, NY and I'm recording an E.P. THIS WEEKEND in a little cabin in the Adirondacks. My music is folk-influenced and lyric driven, inspired by artists like Josh Ritter, Chris Pureka, and Ryan Adams.

I love collaborating and am currently opening for touring acts in the region. If you are a band in a similar genre, have dates in Upstate NY/Northern PA, and would like an opening act to beef up your event, contact me!

I'm Tucker. A Singer/Songwriter in Calgary (Canada).

I've recently written a Kid's book called Going To The Zany Zoo and released a 5 song EP called Born To The World.

Last month I put up a video for my song Girl All Alone. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcAoHn1Rl1w - The song is about a girl who keeps all her dreams in a jar so I had a group of artists create Dream Jars and used those in the video.

Aloha all,

My company, Next Level Streaming Solutions, provides solutions and strategy for the monetization of live music performances via the web. I have an excellent technology company I work with for streaming services AND for inexpensive world wide web distribution services. If you already have a streaming service for your content, I'm still more than happy to help with strategy.

There's a big disconnect right now between content owners and streaming services. I bridge the gap between the tech provider( we want your content) and the content owner( I want to monetize my content) by providing sustainable, real-world solutions(how to monetize your content).

I am based in Los Angeles and can be reached via email at april@nlssolutions.biz.

Hey
I'm Pete. I run a music blog called PeteHatesMusic. I clearly love music, which is why the name is so god damn clever. Did I mention we love sarcasm on our site?

We focus on typically indie and rock music news and videos. We've done interviews with award winning bands, been featured in the Guardian in the UK, cited by MTV Brazil and CBC Radio in Canada, and my Dad liked a post I did once on Facebook. We have made $0 and spent >$0, but you can't put a price on fun (that phrase sounds cooler than it actually is).

Looking forward to checking out some of the artists who have provided comments above. If you want to send us links to music, or invite us to gigs or festivals, we're typically all ears, and we might become best friends (assuming your music meets our ultra high standards).

Come check us out. And we'll check you out. And then we'll all be rich, right?

Cheers
Pete

Hey everybody! We're a new blog that features three unsigned bands or solo artists each week. Rather than review, we try to share what they group/person is about and make a lesson out of something they're doing well. Every post is an opportunity for other musicians to learn a new tip or trick and for fans to find fresh and exciting music. We're always looking for new music to feature and accept submissions via email (UnsignedCorner@gmail.com). If you know someone who might be interested, are interested yourself, or would like to connect in some other way, we'd love to hear from you!

Thanks so much for your time, and MTT for setting this up!

Well hello there internet!

We're The Birds of Night, and we're a fun and nostalgically glazed Rock and Roll band from Denton, TX. We kind of sound like a cross between T Rex, The Strokes, and Tennis.

We just released our debut album called 'Snaps' and it's available for sale on nearly every channel you can think of. It's even on Spotify! If you'd like to hear it, then check out some Rock and Roll that will make you can actually dance to!
We do all of our own merchandise, and by that I mean, we screen print our T-Shirts by hand in my apartment. Nothing quite like the feel of hand printed band shirt resting on your shoulders, am I right ladies?!

Thanks for reading this, and we can't wait to hear about you too!

What's up everybody?

I'm Sam, Business Development Coordinator for Bandsintown.

We provide tools for artists to display and promote their Tour Dates on Facebook, Myspace, their website, and pretty much any place you can drop some code. We also let you up-sell VIP experiences, merch, or whatever you can think of along side the dates, using what we've dubbed our Specials platform.

Any bands who need help with promoting tour dates, or easily selling stuff next to your dates, you may want to check us out.

You can see an example of our app in action on Counting Crows' page.

And just so you know, we have artists with 100 fans using our app and artists with millions of fans using it--there's no cut off! If you need help send me an email at sam@bandsintown.com.

Keep rockin' everyone!

Hello All,

My name is Kera, by suggestion of Bruce in a course I took I started ohkera.com. I manage musicians and maintain indie/diy information for my demographic.

I just signed an act by the name Arboles Libres, (free trees) a bi-lingual band with a name not to be fooled by, Ive never in my life been so motivated to get this music into the ears of the poeple that need it most. I have not heard an album like theirs since Jeff Buckley's Grace. Its a very profound band with the most talented musicians. We are set to take a tour with the HOB's this band without a doubt will be a touring band for the rest of their lives.

We have a lot going on Im always looking for good everything. We are using TopSpin as our direct to fan marketing and have a lot of ducks in order. When we hit the road in September Im sure I will encounter many things on the road with our tight indie budget. Hoping to establish some long stadning relationships we are going to be doing this for a while I can tell.

Hello!

First, I'm a huge fan of MTT and read it every single day.

As for me, I'm an aspiring Music Supervisor in Los Angeles. I recently had the opportunity to intern at the office of one of the town's busiest Music Supervisors, Liza Richardson, and have been there since February. I'm just trying to learn as mush as possible but also want to help out on anyone's projects that need a Music Supervisor in order to gain some experience myself. Also interested in any bands looking for possible sync opportunities. With the fall season of shows coming around it's always good for me to have new music that can be easily licensed for a reasonable price.

Here's a couple of surf videos I just finished working on:

Hi everyone!

I've found MTT to be an incredible industry resource, and I am happy to get the chance to introduce myself. My name is Terra James-Jura, and I work as road manager for a country act. His latest single recently reached the 40's on the country music charts, and his career has been on an ascent even for the year I have been with him.

In the future I'm looking to expand my experience and work in other genres outside of country music. I'd love to get in touch with other bands, managers, tour managers, etc. and build a network. Or if anyone has advice, insights or anecdotes from the road to impart, they would be welcomed! I'm based in Bloomington, IN. Sometimes it gets a little lonely out here!

I am easily reached by email: t.jamesjura@gmail.com

Thank you all! Have a great weekend!

Terra

Sodium Bride is the "bad romance" between Depeche Mode & Lady Gaga. We are the darker side of love playing, what we have dubbed, Modern New Wave.

Thank you MMT & Hypebot for this opportunity to make an introduction. So much of how we run our DIY music career comes directly from your awesome content.

Any out there who want to band together and figure out this new music scene please get in touch. We're all on the same team. Here's to doing what you love, and success to us all.

Regards,
Von Kater

Hi Gang-I am glad to be a part of MTT and the first artist to produce and release a Movie-Book-Album simultaneously. I have been in the music business for most of my life and really excited about reaching this goal. It took me 5 long hard years, but well worth it for my fans and myself. You can check out "Groovemonster - The Tony Newton Story Movie", "Gold Thunder-Legendary Adventures of a Motown Bassman", and the "Thunderfunkfusion" Album at: http://www.Groovemonstermovie.com when you get a moment. Success, Prosperity, Joy and Creativity to all you other great music artists-All The Best-Tony
