3 questions to ask when touring this fall

Artists, venues, and audiences alike have been rejoicing - tours are back! Unfortunately, so too is COVID (although it never really left, if we’re being honest) and as live music events return, there are some ethical questions artists should keep in mind before agreeing to go through with performing a show.

Is it outdoors?

One of the best ways to prevent spread of the virus is to take your shows outdoors. While not every artist has the same clout as someone like Phoebe Bridgers, who has mandated all her upcoming shows take place outside, it’s still an important factor to keep in mind when assessing whether or not to take a gig.

Will vaccines be mandated?

Now that the Pfizer vaccine has the greenlight from the FDA, venues are even more within their rights to insist that any attending audience member show proof of full vaccination at the door. As an artist, whether a venue is mandating vaccination is something you can usually find out before agreeing to play there.

Are you playing in a redzone?

As has been the case throughout the pandemic, certain areas are being hit harder than others, and a quick bit of cursory research can help you determine if you’re headed into a “hot zone” or not.
