Fans To Add Social Music Game To Indie Artist Facebook Pages

Doing things changes things.  Let’s do something about real indie music discovery on Facebook.  Let’s enable every indie artist to have their own “Candy Crush” kind of Facebook game that focuses fans and their friends on playing the artist’s music.

Everyone knows that Facebook is the primary social network used by indie artists to promote their music.   And everyone knows that Facebook is THE network for social gamers with over 250 million playing daily.   So what if we could bring these two Facebook communities together to benefit both?   What if every indie artist could have their own social music game on their Facebook page?   A game that would:

  • Let fans “play” the artist’s songs in the artist’s game at the artist’s Facebook page
  • Reward fans for returning to the artist’s page to play the artist’s game
  • Reward fans for inviting their friends to LIKE the artist’s page and play the artist’s game
  • Automatically promote the artist’s music to friends of these gamers; and
  • Create new revenues for the artists from game content sales to fans

We think this would be awesome, because it would give indie artists their own game that combines the personal power of their music with the global discovery power of social games to help promote their music.

So to make this happen, Music Powered Games, LLC is doing two things. We are porting the Music Monsters mobile game to Facebook tab pages so that any artist can have their own version of the game playing on their Facebook page. And second, we’re launching a Kickstarter project beginning September 3 to let fans sponsor their favorite indie artist’s game.  Here is the link where you can preview our Kickstarter project. http://kck.st/17bxHCC The total cost to place the game on an artist’s Facebook page is only $100 per song.  Fans can sponsor artist at levels of $5, $10, $25, or $100 and receive game rewards for both the mobile and Facebook games.

So in effect, our project is really a collection of hundreds or thousands of mini-projects, where fans can sponsor their favorite artist.  We will even help indies get the word out to their fans by sending the artist a promo graphic with their image and some suggested Tweets and Facebook posts.

If you’re an indie artist, band, manager, label, blogger, or fan, we would appreciate any feedback you may want to give us before we go live next week.

Bobby Wells is CEO and co-founder of Music Powered Games, LLC, an independent game development studio formed with a vision of building fun mobile and social games that utilize patented music game technology for creating gameplay from song lyrics.  We also see the potential of working with great indie artists to leverage the popularity of mobile and social games to help them realize their individual visions for their life in music.

This is such an interesting concept with bridging facebook gaming and indie music. We are launching our Indie Blog, The Indie Place in the next couple of weeks and would love to mention something about this on there. It's a great way to keep fans engaged and to interact with them. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.
